Dr. Strader can eliminate your reoccurring headaches! Many people do not think of headaches as being a dental problem, but often they are.
Severe headaches can be the result of a condition called Tempormandibular Joint Disorder, also called TMJ or TMD. Some estimates place TMJ as the third most common health problem in the United States.
TMJ is a condition where your jaw is improperly aligned. There are many, many symptoms. However, the most common symptoms are:
- Persistent headaches
- Neck, face, shoulder or jaw pain
- Pain when chewing or talking
- Tooth grinding and clenching
Because these symptoms are rather vague, the only accurate way to properly diagnose TMJ is to meet with a qualified cosmetic dentist. Dr. Strader has the training and experience to properly diagnose, and then subsequently treat, tempormandibular joint disorder. TMJ can only be diagnosed with X-rays, CAT scans or K-7 testing. Computer modeling of your jaw and bite pattern is often necessary.
If you have persistent headaches, it is definitely worth your time to meet with Dr. Strader for a consultation. TMJ is a very common condition, and only a cosmetic dentist can properly diagnose it - or rule it out - as the cause of your headaches. Sometimes, relief is as simple as wearing a special appliance as you sleep.
